Superman quickly retaliated by slamming his knee into Thor's chin, knocking his opponent over once more. However, thanks to Superman's recent sun dip, the slam did little, barely fazing the Man of Steel at all. Mjolnir slid into Thor's palm, as the Thunder God rattled Superman from the inside out. Thor outstretched an arm, signaling for assistance, and his plead was answered. Thor realized Mjolnir was not in his grasp, but knocked to the side and lodged into a newly formed crevice within the planet's hard and rocky ground. The crater around him deepened, as Superman slammed another fist into Thor's chest, knocking him down into the ground further with his right arm. He wasn't on earth anymore, but rather the metallic planet of Mercury. Thor groaned, as he realized he was unable to control the land around him. Superman drove the Thunder God further with newly found strength, forming a massive crater into the planet. Superman quickly followed the Thunder God, gripping Thor by the neck and driving him into Mercury. Thor was sent crashing away, but managed to stop himself from meeting a nearby planet. The storm clouds that had wrapped the sun quickly dissipated, launching Thor out of the park. His eyes seeped bright red energy, as he let it loose like a red beam of annihilation. Superman made his way towards the outer limits of the sun. Soon enough, a flash of blue sped out of the near flames of the sun. Thor hadn't counted, but a lot of time had passed, at least twenty minutes, he thought to himself.
While the lightning did nothing to affect the suns general condition, it was sure to lure Superman from his lair of healing. While Superman shot himself out of the core with boosted speed, Thor was raining lightning onto the gaseous globe of light. Superman growled, as he shot out of the massive sun like a speeding bullet. He looked around him, and other than the warmth of the sun's caress, there only stood darkness, a veil of grey closing in onto Superman's life force. Superman snapped awake, his eyes glowing a mixture of gold and red. Like a hand being dabbed over a candle, the sun's light was gone. The clouds began to stretch, reaching out like fingers, encompassing the sun with a thick mist. The clouds began to connect, and form into one massive blob of pure storm. Meanwhile, Thor exited the fiery bowels of the sun, and raised Mjolnir in the air, as storm clouds began to form over the sun itself. Finally, rather than a state of healing, his body was placed within a state of empowerment, strength filling up his bones.Įxhaling, Superman began to flex, releasing all tension his body once held from the fight prior. His eyes lay closed, and both his mind and physical being lay in rest, in bliss within the blazing heat of the sun. Superman, on the other hand, lay encased in a pillar of pure heat, feeling his tense muscles loosen up, and his wounds mend. He lifted himself over the fires, and began to push himself into the core of the sun, looking for Superman. Blinding yellow and white light came from all directions, as Thor lifted Mjolnir and began to reflect most of the suns rays back at it. Thor clutched Mjolnir, as he trudged throughout the hellish heat of the sun. Well, that is a question that will soon be answered. Yet who, shall reign, who, shall be the one to raise his fist high in the end? Two titans, two Gods, shall continue their battle, their never-ending fight to supremacy, the two banner-men who carry the flag of their respective teams, the two champions shall end their conflict once and for all.
